Programs Overview:

2016 saw the development of several new programs for our education department. To better cater to schools and universities in our community, we have developed custom tailored program options to contribute to educational experiences at high schools that are covering WWII or human rights issues in class. These program options include publications days, lectures, presentations, talks, mini exhibits and more. Our R.M. Sessions project has also been working in high gear and Museum staff has prepared a couple snippets of some of the types of interviews that we have conducted with veterans, survivors, and eye witnesses. The Virtual Museum was also set up in 2016 to give a glimpse of some of what our archives currently hold that can be accessed by scholars and researchers. This year was also filled with many shows by our friends in the Forever Young Band, who sadly lost Pianist Ella Curtis (94). She was one of the first female beauticians (WAAC) in the US Army during World War 2 and was one of the first major female brokers in Orange/Riverside Counties. Rest in peace Ella, you will be missed.

2015 started strong with work finishing up and the premiere of the NAU collaborative film project Schwarz Weiss, a film that follows the lives of ordinary German soldiers’ life in a fox hole on the eastern front during the latter stages of World War II. The film premiered at the NAU Film Festival to great acclaim and took home four awards and a nomination for best actor in a leading role as well as best actor in a supporting role. 2015 was also the year the Regimes Museum partnered with Forever Young, a musical group made up of professional entertainers whose average age is over 90 years old and most members served in wars from WWII to Vietnam. We have been supporting their efforts through promoting their shows and supporting their musical talents through back up performing alongside these incredible individuals.

2014 was an extraordinary year for the Regimes Museum. It started with a re-launch of the website and the addition of new services including the R.M. Journal. The R.M. Journal is a platform intended to serve as a peer reviewed journal for history on general topics related to war, genocide, tyranny, dictatorship, human rights issues, and international politics. Contributions include and are not limited to academic articles and other scholarly works but also artistic and literary works, such as poetry and visuals to complement the research aspect of the Journal. We have also expanded our network and collaborated with other institutions to provide educational programs to high schools.
