About the Event

The Ministerium für Staatssicherheit (Ministry for State Security), or Stasi, as it was most commonly referred to, was the secret police of the former German Democratic Republic. This exhibit will take you on a tour of the Stasi through the material culture it produced while juxtaposing these objects with historical information and personal accounts, providing a glimpse of a notorious agency whose global impact was far greater than what could have been expected from such a small country.
