About the Event

For Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, the indoctrination of the youth was a central part of what made these regimes so dangerous. This exhibition was inspired by the 1941 children's book Youth Under Dictators, which describes the daily life of ordinary German and Russian children living under the reigns of Hitler and Stalin. Like this book, the "Youth Under Dictators" exhibition explores similarities and differences between the youth movements of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, and seeks to understand what life was like for children in these tyrannical societies.
